Democratic strategist James Carville on Thursday blasted Democrats for focusing too much on urban voters. “I think it was always the time for Democrats to campaign hard in rural areas,” Carville said during an episode of “Politics War Room,” highlighted by Mediaite. “I don't know how the party ever got away from that," he added. "Some of its more urbanist members and commentators lived in a folly of a world that we could exist … in elections by just concentrating on large urban areas.” Democrats have been grappling with their recent losses in the 2024 election at the House, Senate and presidential levels, and are trying to figure out what they can do to earn back Americans’ votes in upcoming elections.  There has also been turmoil in the party over how to combat President Trump and his administration, with frustrations especially bubbling up in the last week after some Senate Democrats voted to advance a Republican-crafted funding bill despite intense opposition to it from many in the party. Carville hailed Colorado Rep. Jason Crow (D), with the Democratic strategist saying he thinks the Centennial State Democrat “is the kind of prototype of what the modern Democratic Party should embrace.” Crow is a member of the centrist New Democrat Coalition, and is a former Army Ranger.
