ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The 2025 Gatorade New Mexico boy's basketball player of the year was announced on Thursday. For the third consecutive year, the honor went to Volcano Vista's Kenyon Aguino. This season, the 6-7 senior forward led the Hawks to a 29-2 record and a fourth consecutive st ate title. Individually, Aguino averaged 20.3 points, 10.5 rebounds and 5.3 assists. According to MaxPreps statistics, Aguino was the only player in class 5A to average a double-double. "Just super thankful for everything," Agunio said reflecting on his high school career. "Couldn't have done it without my teammates, all my coaching staff. All the hard work, all the practices, all the conditioning, weight lifting, the whole preseason. Just everything that goes into this game." Throughout his high school career, Agunio won four state championships and only lost four games.
