HONOLULU (KHON2) -- As Shinnyo Lantern Floating Hawaiʻi returns for its 27th year, officials are calling on the community for volunteers to help support this year's ceremony.

Each volunteer plays a significant role in the event, helpi
ng Shinnyo-en bring the ceremony to life with its 6,000 candle-lit lanterns.
Volunteers will help in various aspects of the ceremony. Officials said they will prepare and pack lanterns, transcribe online remembrances, retrieve and refurbish lanterns and more.
Each year, Shinnyo Lantern Floating Hawai‘i brings thousands of people together in a sharedexperience of remembrance, healing and hope. Our volunteers are essential to ensuring this tradition continues, and we deeply appreciate the time and energy they give to support this meaningful event.

The event will be held at Ala Moana Beach Park on Monday, May 26 with the theme "Many Rivers, One Ocean" to honor fallen service members and loved ones.
