BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Multiple restraining orders were filed against him, but Samuel Beltran Charles didn't care.
He repeatedly showed up at the victim's home, threatening her and slashing her vehicle's tires.
She never knew when he'd pop up next.
For the next few years, at least
, Charles won't be coming around.
On Thursday, the 43-year-old Charles was sentenced to six years and eight months in prison after being found guilty of stalking, vandalism and violating court and protective orders.
Superior Court Judge Charles R. Brehmer said the penalties for each of the charges would run consecutively.
"We have separate, distinct events," the judge said. "We have multiple dates. I do not believe concurrent sentencing is appropriate."
Charles, who has eight prior convictions for violating court orders, was found guilty last month.
At the time of the most recent incidents, the victim had three active restraining orders that barred Charles from coming within 100 yards of her or her home.
He ignored them, testifying at trial he knew about the restraining orders “but did not care about any of them,” according to prosecutors.

Charles fled before law enforcement arrived.
He went back around midnight on Aug. 17, 2023. She refused his demands to open the door.
Prosecutors say he then threatened to assault her, and used a knife to slash the tires of a vehicle in the driveway.
Once again, Charles was gone before law enforcement arrived. He was arrested last year. ...read more read less
