NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Colder air on the backside of Tuesday's potent storm system is still accompanied with calmer winds with dry air, allowing for the radiational cooling process, as air temperatures are starting off near 0 degrees in parts of the northern mountains with mostly below-freezing tempe
ratures throughout the majority of New Mexico, except far-southern areas.

More-stable atmospheric conditions are in place but because the jet stream, although weaker than days past, is set up in northern areas, breezy conditions will remains as southwesterly winds will return later this morning into the afternoon with patchy blowing dust, as well as the elevated to critical fire threat in the east plains through the northeast highlands as temperatures will mostly reach the the 50s and 60s, still a bit chilly in the 40s in the mountains, while it will be near 70 degrees in southwest New Mexico.
Breezier conditions will occasionally return late this week into the weekend with relatively mild air returning as little to no precipitation will fall ahead, even for the northern communities. ...read more read less
