WXIN/WTTV – Storms left their mark on parts of Indiana.
A line of severe weather swept through the Hoosier State Wednesday night, carving a trail of damage that left thousands of people without power.
Strong winds brought down power lines and damaged buildings. The National Weather Service i
ssued several thunderstorm and tornado warnings throughout the night.
Bartholomew County
Bartholomew County saw some of the most significant damage.
EMA Director Shannon Cooke said the tornado hit near Columbus shortly before 9 p.m. It was first spotted in the southwestern part of the county and moved through the Ogleville area and Jonesville fairgrounds.
Bartholomew County Sheriff Chris Lane posted several photos on Facebook, saying the eastern side of the county sustained “lots of weather-related damage.” Photos showed down utility poles, power lines and trees. It appeared strong winds pulled sheet metal from a barn roof, which became entangled in trees and power lines.

“We were just standing in the office watching and the next thing you know, sheets of plywood were shooting across the parking lot, so we just got on the microphone and everybody we needed them to head to the bathroom,” said Jerry Williams, owner of the Franklin Skate Club.
During the storm, a light pole fell on a car, although no one was hurt. Debris from the storm was strewn around the outside of the building and the parking lot.
