Strong winds cause tree to fall on house in North Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn.-- A woman was hurt when a tree fell on a home in North Memphis Wednesday night.
Wind gusts of 40 mph caused several trees to topple in Memphis during the day.
One tree was uprooted at a house in the 1000 block of North Parkway just after 9 p.m. The homeowner said the tree hit th
eir vehicle and a neighbor's house.
According to the homeowner, the neighbor whose home was struck needed to be rescued and was taken to the hospital. There is currently no update on her condition.

The strong winds also caused power outages. At one point, over 12,000 MLGW customers were without electricity.
The outages were in Memphis, Germantown, Collierville, Bartlett, and Millington.

Strong wind gusts are expected to continue throughout the evening.
