CHARLOTTE, NC — Terror at Taco Bell. A DoorDash driver says an employee threatened to shoot him in the head over an order.
“It could have been worse. It could have been a mass shooting,” said DoorDash driver, Scott McDonald.
McDonald was working his side job as a DoorDash driver Saturday ni
ght when he got an order from Taco Bell on Woodlawn Rd in south Charlotte. When McDonald went to pick up the food, he said a Taco Bell employee quickly became hostile when McDonald asked if his order was ready.
“He started to say, you think I’m playing with you? I’ll ‘dome you’ (which is) slang for I’ll shoot you in the head,” explained McDonald.
McDonald claims that employee grabbed a backpack with a gun in it.
“He held his hand on the butt of the gun. Asked me if he wanted me to shoot him, shoot me. Once again I said, dude, I’m just here for my order,” said McDonald.
McDonald said when this happened everyone in the lobby ran out except for him. Not long after, he said the two nearly got into a fight before it was broken.
Cops were called but McDonald says he was told by officers that employee would not be arrested because the gun wasn’t fully visible.
“I’m like, you’re not even going to arrest this guy,” McDonald explained, “they said because he didn’t point it at me, totally.”
That’s not sitting well with McDonald who has now been banned from picking up food at this location.
“This guy should be fired and criminally charged. You know, that’s what I would like to see, justice,” McDonald said of the employee.
Taco Bell sent us this statement:
“The franchise owner of this restaurant takes customer and team member safety seriously. The franchisee has informed us that they took disciplinary action of the employee involved in the situation. The franchisee will cooperate with law enforcement as they conduct their investigation.”
We followed up with Taco Bell to find out if that employee was fired, they have not responded.
CMPD also has not responded to our multiple requests for comment.
