COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WRIC) -- A 35-year-old Petersburg man was arrested at the end of a police pursuit after a Colonial Heights pizza place was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon.
At around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, officers with the Colonial Heights Police Department (CHPD) were called to t
he Marcos Pizza on Dunlop Village for the report of an armed robbery.
Officers learned that a suspect had entered the restaurant, showed a firearm and demanded that the clerk give them money. According to police, the suspect was given "an undetermined amount" of money. They then left on foot.
CHPD identified a potential suspect vehicle and shared that information with authorities in nearby localities.

According to police, an officer with the Prince George County Police Department later saw the vehicle at the intersection of Oaklawn Boulevard and Gregg Avenue. The officer pulled that vehicle over and, while the suspect did initially stop the vehicle, they reportedly drove away soon after.
A pursuit began, with the suspect vehicle moving on Route 36 into the City of Petersburg. Police said this chase ended when the suspect vehicle crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Henrico and East Washington streets.
The driver of the suspect vehicle -- 35-year-old Michael Anthony Edmonds of Petersburg -- and his juvenile passenger, as well as the driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash, were all taken to a local hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Edmonds has been hit with several charges, including armed robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possessing a firearm as a convicted felon and wearing a mask in public. These charges are all out of Petersburg. More charges may be pending in Prince George County, according to police.
