Tornado Watch until 10 p.m.; Wind Advisory until 9 p.m.
Mar 19, 2025
The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Tornado Watch for west-central Indiana until 10 p.m. The watch extends further west into portions of Illinois and Iowa where a line of storms, that has a history of producing tornadoes, has formed. Storms are beginning to enter Central Illinois this afternoon
and will move into western Indiana after 6 p.m. Always remember that a WATCH means now is the time to PREPARE ahead of the storm's arrival.
All modes of severe weather are possible with these storms. However, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes remain the biggest threats. Peak coverage across Central Indiana will be between 6-9 p.m. with our western counties seeing storm activity first. NOTE: As these storms move east, a downstream watch box could be issued and that may include more Central Indiana counties. We'll keep you updated as the storms progress.
Otherwise, a Wind Advisory remains in effect through 9 p.m. So far this afternoon we've seen gusts around 30-35 MPH with locally higher gusts likely with the approaching storms. Once these storms move out, get ready for a major weather pattern change. A cold front will come sweeping through, shifting our winds from southwest to northwest. Temperatures will plunge into the 30s and we'll see a flurries mixing with light rain Thursday morning. Spring starts Thursday at 5:01 a.m. and high temperatures will be nearly 30° colder than Wednesday running ten degrees below average.
