Dispute over dead rabbit leads to gun arrest: Sonoma County sheriff

(KRON) -- A dispute between neighbors in the North Bay over a dead rabbit led to one man being arrested Monday on firearm charges, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office (SCSO).
Authorities responded just before 6 p.m. to a disturbance in the area of Brand and Dutch lanes in Penngrove. She
riff’s deputies determined that 58-year-old William Hawley “confronted a neighbor about a dispute over a dead rabbit,” SCSO said.

A witness to the confrontation told authorities they saw a gun tucked into Hawley’s waistband. According to the sheriff’s office, Hawley has a prior felony conviction and is prohibited from possessing guns.
A search of Hawley’s trailer uncovered a revolver, a short barrel shotgun and ammunition, SCSO said.

Hawley was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility for felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a short barrel shotgun and felon in possession of ammunition. He was released after posting $30,000 bail, the sheriff’s office said. ...read more read less
