What We’re Tracking
Rain to Snow Wednesday
Strong winds
Spring begins Thursday
A strong cold front continues to push through the area, bringing a sharp temperature drop. Winds are shifting to the northwest, ushering in much colder air. Expect gusts up to 55 mph, with a High Wind War
ning in place for Wednesday.
Starting off with rain northwest this morning, but it quickly changes towards snow. That change to snow will spread eastward through Wednesday, but with surface temperatures above freezing, much of it will melt on contact or shortly after. Expect whiteout conditions in some areas as winds could gust to as high as 60 mph. A blizzard warning is in place for central and northcentral Kansas.
The first day of spring arrives Thursday, with near-average highs in the upper 50s. A warming trend continues into the weekend, with temperatures reaching the lower 60s by Sunday, when our next chance of rain arrives.
