Franklinton woman facing murder allegations after infant's death

FRANKLINTON, La. (WGNO) — A Franklinton mother is facing allegations of murder following the death of her child.
According to the Franklinton Police Department, on Wednesday, March 19, officers arrested 24-year-old Autumn
Harper on charges of first-degree murder.

An investigation revealed that on March 12, officers responded to Riverside Medical Center in reference to an 8-month-old child reportedly suffering from severe injuries including multiple "healing and current broken bones."

Officials airlifted the child to Children's Hospital in New Orleans where they later died as a result of the injuries.

During the interview process, detectives say Harper gave a "voluntary inculpatory statement" allegedly implicating that she committed the crime.
She is currently booked into the Washington Parish Jail.
