OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) - During a motion hearing on Wednesday for Erik Metzig, the Winnebago County man charged with killing his parents in March 2023, Metzig's attorney withdrew from
the case, citing a conflict of interest.
Court records show that 27-year-old Metzig appeared in court for a motion hearing on March 19. A motion was filed by the defense and attorney Timothy Hogan on March 6 for Hogan's withdrawal from the case.
Judge Michael Gibbs granted Hogan's withdrawal and appointed Attorney Aaron Schenk to represent Metzig.

Metzig was charged with killing his two parents back on March 18, 2023. The parents died from apparent gunshot wounds, according to authorities. Erik was later found at a YMCA in Kimberly.
The homicide case has already been delayed multiple times, including back in October 2024 after the defense filed two motions. One of which was due to a letter that Metzig sent to the court that “needed to be investigated.” The court granted the adjournment.
A status hearing has been scheduled for May 29 at 9 a.m.
