Snow causes highway closures east of Colorado Springs

(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — Those wanting to travel east of Colorado Springs on Wednesday morning, March 19, will be largely out of luck, as several highways are closed due to safety concerns during the snowstorm.
According to COTrip, Highway 94 is closed in both directions from North Ellicott Highwa
y to Kendrick Road due to safety concerns. Conditions are listed as snow-packed, with poor visibility and high winds.
US Highway 24 is closed in both directions between Constitution Avenue in Colorado Springs and US Highway 40, one mile west of Limon. Conditions are stated as being snowy with ice, snowpack, and high winds, according to COTrip.

For those thinking they can head east if they head north of Colorado Springs, there aren't any good options, either. Highway 86 is closed just east of Castle Rock, and I70 is closed east of Denver.
The best option is to head south toward Pueblo, as Colorado Highway 96 and US Highway 50 are open, but be prepared to deal with high winds. ...read more read less
