INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indiana University and Purdue University’s dance marathon teams are joining forces for a week-long fundraising challenge called Old Riley Bucket Week to support Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.
The event, which runs from March 24-27, is a twist on the univers
ities’ football rivalry and the famous Old Oaken Bucket.
While the Hoosiers and Boilermakers compete for the “Old Riley Bucket,” the real winner is Riley Hospital for Children. The funds will support pediatric research and care, focusing on oncology and neurological issues affecting child development.
Every dollar raised during the event goes directly to help kids at Riley Hospital, making it a rivalry in which everyone wins. The collaboration between the two universities demonstrates the power of community and competition coming together for a good cause.
March 27, Indiana University will host a “ORBathon” fundraising competition.
Since 1991, the Indiana University Dance Marathon has raised over $56 million for Riley Hospital. This long-standing tradition highlights the commitment of both universities to supporting children’s health and research.
With “Old Riley Bucket Week,” Indiana University and Purdue University show that even the fiercest rivals can unite for a greater good, benefiting children’s health and research at Riley Hospital.
