FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) -- A Columbia City dessert shop known for its plant-based, gluten-free desserts is planning to move to the Summit City in the near future.
Moo-Over, which received recognition for the plant-based ice cream it serves, announced on Facebook Tuesday that it will be relocating
its only storefront from downtown Columbia City to Fort Wayne.
In October 2023, Moo-Over Owner Julie Hurd told WANE 15 the company is the only dessert shop in Indiana with a menu that consists solely of vegan and gluten offerings. The company was also featured on a show called "America's Best Restaurants," which travels the country in search of places people should "eat at on a daily basis."

An exact opening date and location have not been revealed, but the new spot will feature "more space, new offerings and better parking," according to the Facebook post.
"We're so grateful for the love and support from our amazing community, and we can't wait to welcome you to our new home," part of the Facebook post read.
Some posted comments on Facebook wishing Moo-Over would stay in Columbia City, and while the company acknowledged the decision "wasn't made lightly," it also mentioned that the move will help with long-term sustainability in mind.
Despite leaving Columbia City, Moo-Over still plans to be involved in the community through pop-ups, special orders and future collaborations.
Moo-Over also plans to host a grand reopening ceremony once it opens its doors in Fort Wayne. ...read more read less
