FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Two juveniles and an older adult were hospitalized following a candle fire in Fresno.
The Fresno Fire Department says they responded to an apartment fire in the area of Nees and Ingram avenues in Fresno just after 3 p.m. Tuesday after a neighbor in the apartment comp
lex reported smelling smoke.
Upon arrival, crews say they found an older adult and two juveniles in the downstairs unit, where a small fire was taking place. They were able to get the occupants out and put out the fire.
Investigation revealed the cause of the fire was a candle display. Firefighters say the three occupants were evaluated on the scene. They were transported to the hospital after showing smoke inhalation symptoms.
"Be careful when using candles, whether ceremonially or recreationally, to be cautious and keep them from a safe distance from anything flammable," said Fresno Fire Public Information Officer Josh Sellars.
Crews say the fire left minor damages, so occupants likely won't be displaced. ...read more read less
