Rider big man Tariq Ingraham is entering the transfer portal for his seventh season of eligibility.
Ingraham made the announcement on Monday night.
“I want to start by expressing my deepest gratitude to Coach Baggett and the entire coaching staff at Rider University for believing in me and helping
me grow both on and off the court,” he said in his social media post. “To my teammates — you are more than just teammates; you are my brothers. The battles we’ve fought together and the memories we’ve created over the past three years will stay with me forever.”
A 6-9, 255-pound center, Ingraham started all 33 games and averaged 10.9 points and seven rebounds the season. He appeared in 95 career games (81 starts) over three seasons and averaged 8.9 points and 5.7 rebounds on 53.1% shooting.
Ingraham, whose parents both played at Seton Hall, began his career at Wake Forest, but tore his Achilles in practice before his freshman season. That was followed by the Covid year and then a mid-season transfer to Rider after he appeared in one game at Wake.
He played his best basketball down the stretch as Rider clawed it way back from an 0-4 start in MAAC play to finish eighth with a 9-11 record. Ingraham had at least 18 points and eight rebounds in each of the final three games, including the game-winning layup with less than a second left against Siena in the first round of the MAAC Tournament.
“I also want to extend my sincere appreciation to the administration, the incredible fans, and, of course, the Bronc Zoo — your support has meant the world to me,” he wrote.
The transfer portal officially opens March 24 and remains that way through April 22.
Around the MAAC: Iona surprisingly parted with head coach Tobin Anderson after just two seasons. Anderson had the Gaels in the MAAC championship game, but fell to Mount St. Mary’s. He was 33-34 overall in two season. The school is expected to hire New Orleans Pelicans assistant Dan Geriot, according to multiple reports. … The Mount (22-12) was given a No. 16 seed and placed in a first-four contest against Patriot League champ American (22-12). That game tips off at 6:40 p.m. in Dayton, Ohio, with the winner advancing to a first-round game against No. 1 seed Duke (31-3). … Two former Rider players will play in the NCAA Tournament when No. 16 seed Norfolk State (24-10) faces No. 1 seed Florida in the first round. Guard Christian Ings — he’s in his sixth year and fourth at Norfolk State — is second on the team in scoring at 11.9 points and forward Tyrel Bladen has appeared in 30 games while averaging 4.4 points and 3.4 rebounds. ...read more read less
