DALLAS (NEXSTAR) -- Parents who have experienced the devastating loss of a child to fentanyl know all too well how critical it is to educate children on the dangers of drugs, especially when it comes to social media. Angela Kennecke knows this firsthand. She urges parents to start conversations w ith their children as early as possible. "Social media requires constant vigilance, but more importantly, parents must equip their children with the tools to recognize danger. “Let them know that everybody on social media is not a friend,” said Angela Vonn Webb, who lost a son to fentanyl poisoning, stresses the importance of open communication. "For parents, monitoring alone isn’t enough, building a strong relationship with your children is vital," said Vonn. "When kids are out there doing things, they don't tell parents everything. But with trust and communication, parents can better recognize warning signs."
