CAMERON, N.C. (WNCN) -- Harnett County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed robbery that happened in Country Mobile Home Estates, in Cameron, just before 2 a.m. on Monday.
Melinda Martin said she woke up to a loud noise after dozing off while listening to audiobooks.
"All I hear is b
am!" Martin said.
Homeowner charged after teen shot in head after truck break-in in North Carolina
It was the sound of an armed masked man kicking in the 63-year-old's front door of her Ted Brown Road home. Her doorbell camera captured the break-in as a woman raced inside, followed by the armed man.
"The next thing I know when I opened my eyes and looked up there was a gun in my face. And this guy was like give me the money. I'm like, what money," Martin said.
She was home alone at the time. She said the suspects repeatedly demanded money.
"I'm about in tears now because I don't have no money to give him. I think I had like $6 or $7," Martin said.
After taking the money from her, they asked about the location of her medication.
"I have a Lilo & Stitch Bag. She dumped out my Lilo & Stitch Bag, grabbed my medicine, she took off out the door and he took off behind her," the victim said.
Martin believes it's possible the individuals could know her in some capacity since she's a landlord. Now she doesn't feel safe in her own home, living by herself.
"I don't want to sleep in this house no more. I don't want to be here. Because I don't trust people and he told me if I call the police he'll come back and kill me. I'm leaving. Because I don't have family here and I been here 30 years too long. I have never been that scared in my life that somebody is going to kill me over some money. It's not that serious. If I had it, I would have given it to them. It's not that serious. I don't want to die for money," Martin said.
She said her home was broken into a few years ago. Money and a video game system were some of the items stolen then.
