Native tribe in Central Valley introduces new EV chargers

PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The Tule River Tribe says they will be one of the first Native American tribes in Central California to install electric vehicle chargers - they're celebrating this weekend with test drives and free giveaways.
The tribe, in partnership with NESCO and TREDC, wil
l be hosting the “Ride & Drive” EV Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony on Saturday to celebrate the project and the Tribe’s commitment to "sustainability, clean transportation, and energy independence."
During the free event, the community will have the opportunity to enjoy free food, giveaways, and vendor exhibits, test-drive the latest electric vehicles and learn about clean energy initiatives.
“The Tule River Tribe is setting a powerful example for other Native communities by embracing sustainable infrastructure and clean transportation,” said Elizabeth Perez, CEO of NESCO. “This event is not just a celebration of a local project - it’s a milestone for energy sovereignty and economic development.”
