INDIANAPOLIS — A juvenile was injured in a shooting on the east side of Indianapolis early Saturday morning.
A public police report confirms members of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to Community East Hospital around 12:40 a.m. because a person had walked into t
he facility with a gunshot wound. A media notification IMPD sent at approximately 12:54 a.m. confirms officers did, indeed, find a victim with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds when they arrived at the hospital.
On Monday, IMPD reported that the victim is a juvenile female. Detectives currently believe the girl was injured during a shooting in the 4800 block of East 19th Street.
Members of the girl's family told FOX59 and CBS4 she was struck by gunfire that was directed toward their house. The victim's family members also indicated she was inside their home when shots rang out, but one of the bullets still hit her.
In its media notification, IMPD reported that the victim was in stable condition when officers found her at the hospital.
At this point in their investigation of the shooting, police have not publicly identified any suspects or persons of interest.
As of this article's publication, little additional information on the circumstances that led to the shooting had been made available.
