Mother dies, 10monthold hospitalized after crash in Madera County, CHP says

MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A 29-year-old woman has died and her 10-month child was hospitalized Monday after a solo vehicle crash in Madera, the California Highway Patrol said.
CHP says at approximately 12:25 p.m. officers responded to a crash on Road 28 1/2, near Avenue 17.

g to CHP, they learned that the 29-year-old woman who was from Madera was driving a 2024 Acura Integra with her 10-month-old son in the backseat who was properly restrained in a car seat.
CHP says that the woman was traveling southbound on the road at an unknown speed. For reasons unknown, CHP says she veered to the left, across the northbound lane and into the east dirt shoulder.
As a result, the vehicle collided with a barbed wire fence and wooden posts, according to CHP. CHP says the impact caused a wooden post to pierce the vehicle's windshield.
The 29-year-old woman who was driving was pronounced deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The identity of the 29-year-old has not been released by officials.
The 10-month-old child was taken to Valley Children's Hospital to be evaluated for injuries.
