21yearold Hopewell man arrested for multiple crimes overnight, including sexual assault, robbery

HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) -- A Hopewell man has been arrested for a series of crimes that happened throughout the weekend, including sexual assault, malicious wounding and robbery.
On Saturday, March 15, at approximately 11:15 p.m., Hopewell Telecommunications received a grand larceny call in the 200 bl
ock of East Broadway. The victim reported that an unknown suspect took their cell phone by force and took off in an unknown direction.
Shortly after, at 12:21 a.m. on Sunday, March 16, police responded to a robbery in the 200 block of East Broadway. According to police, the suspect entered a home, assaulted the victim and stole multiple personal belongings -- including a cell phone. While investigating, police found a phone belonging to the victim from the first grand larceny.
At 1:29 a.m., police responded to a larceny and sexual assault in the 1200 block of City Point Road. During this incident, the suspect entered a building and encountered the victim, then committed a sexual assault before proceeding to steal multiple belongings, including a cell phone.
Upon investigating, police identified the suspect as 21-year-old Regenald Conwell of Hopewell, who was arrested and charged with the following:
Two counts of felony grand larceny
Felony aggravated malicious wounding
Felony robbery
Misdemeanor sexual battery
Misdemeanor indecent exposure
Misdemeanor preventing the use of 911
He was transported to Riverside Regional Jail, where is he currently being held without a bond.

We will continue to pursue all leads to ensure justice is served.”
