CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WPRI) — There was a heavy police presence in a Central Falls neighborhood Monday morning.
Police responded to a home on Cowden Street around 6 a.m. for a well-being check on a resident experiencing a mental health crisis.
Officers arrived to the sound of a gunshot and ma
de contact with someone inside who refused to come out, according to police.
A perimeter was established, and Cowden Street was blocked off for several hours. Mutual aid was requested from Pawtucket and Rhode Island State Police.
After negotiations, the person exited the home without incident and was taken to the hospital for evaluation, police said.
