A windy, warm Tuesday in central Indiana; Rain changes to snow later this week
Mar 17, 2025
Central Indiana saw it's first severe weather event on the year Saturday with several counties reporting damage from gusty straight-line winds. So far, the National Weather Service has confirmed 9 tornadoes across the state, including one in Parke county. We had a major cooldown with sleet and a few
snowflakes on Sunday, but sunny skies and 50° temperatures arrived on Monday for St. Patrick's Day. Southwest winds will pick up tonight, bringing milder air for Tuesday. Tomorrow will be the best day of the week, with plenty of sunshine and 70° temperatures. However, be prepared for gusty winds, with gusts reaching 30-40 mph in the afternoon.
Unfortunately, we won’t get the same extended stretch of mild air we saw last week. A new storm system is set to roll in by Wednesday evening, bringing rain and the potential for stronger storms. Spring starts Thursday morning and 5:01 a.m. but the ne season will get off to a wintry start. Colder air will move in with a cold front on Thursday, and we'll see a rain/snow mix early Thursday morning, with rain south if I-70. Our weather will stay unsettled through the weekend with rain in the forecast for Saturday and Sunday.
