(KRON) -- A man reported to police to be a home intruder was attacked and killed by a Martinez resident on Saturday, according to authorities. Martinez Police Department officers responded at 4:46 a.m. to Hale Court on the report of someone heard yelling “intruder,” police said. A resident told arriving officers that a man he knew entered his home without permission. The reported intruder was critically injured by the resident during the confrontation, police said, and was rushed by ambulance to a local trauma center. There, the man was pronounced deceased by medical staff.
