Young Kansas man was victim in I70 dust storm crash

SALINA, Kan. (KSNW) -- A young man from Salina is the first victim to be identified from the multi-vehicle pileup on Interstate 70 during the dust storm on Friday.
Dawson Hogan was a sophomore studying electrical technology at Fort Hays Tech Northwest in Goodland. On Friday, he was traveling home
to Salina for spring break.

"Dawson was a vibrant presence on campus—a dedicated member of the Men’s Wrestling program, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and involved in student life events," Ben Schears, Fort Hays Tech Northwest president, said in a statement. "He excelled academically, recently earning a nomination for the National Technical Honor Society."

Hogan was on track to earn his Journeyman license, graduate this semester, and begin his career.
"We ask our campus community to keep Dawson’s family, friends, classmates, and teammates in their thoughts and prayers during this heartbreaking time," Schears said. "He will be missed by many."

Funeral arrangements have not been announced yet. A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the family with expenses.
