‘Bearded Bandit’ sentenced to time served, supervised release for 2019 bank robbery

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Cranston man has been sentenced to time served and supervised release for robbing an East Providence bank on New Year’s Eve in 2019, according to the office of Acting U.S. Attorney Sara Miron Bloom.
Justin Worley, 44, was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court, and
will serve his first six months of supervised release in a residential reentry center and must pay $11,569 in restitution.
Worley had been detained since being arrested on January 21, 2020.
Worley, who had previously been sentenced to federal prison for robbing nine banks in 2012, pleaded guilty on October 30, 2024 to conspiracy to commit bank robbery and bank robbery.
Worley admitted that he and a co-defendant entered an East Providence bank and demanded tellers empty their money drawers.
Co-defendant Nicholas Lage, 39, produced a knife during the robbery, and the two men fled the scene with $11,569.
They were both arrested that evening at Twin River casino.
Lage pleaded guilty on April 1, 2021 to conspiracy to commit bank robbery and bank robber and was sentenced to 36 months in federal prison.
