Very dry and windy this afternoon, extreme fire danger
Mar 17, 2025
What We’re Tracking
Red Flag Warning Monday
Warming back up early this week
Rain/snow chance on Wednesday
A warming trend begins today, with highs reaching the upper 70s under plenty of sunshine. However, elevated fire danger will continue due to low humidity and increasing winds.
A Red Flag Warning is in effect for all of northeast Kansas on Monday. Southwest winds will range from 15-25 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph. Do not burn outdoors.
By Tuesday, temperatures will soar into the lower 80s ahead of our next rain chance. Showers move in Tuesday night, with a changeover to snow by morning for western counties.
That change to snow will spread east into Wednesday, but with above freezing surface temperatures most of it will melt either on contact or shortly afterward with highs rebounding into the 40s in the afternoon.
