One injured following fire in Suffolk early Monday morning

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) -- One person has minor injuries following a fire in Suffolk.
According to officials, crews were called to the 1100 block of Cogic Square around 2:20 a.m. for the report of an apartment building on fire. When crews arrived, they found smoke showing from the front door of an ap
artment.
Crews found that the fire was coming from the bedroom on the second floor. An aggressive attack was made and crews were able place the fire under control around 2:40 a.m.

All occupants were outside prior to the firefighters arrival. No smoke or fire extended to the neighboring apartments. One person had minor injuries due to the fire but did not require transportation to an area hospital. No other occupants or firefighters were injured.
The American Red Cross is assisting one adult and one child who were displaced due to the fire.
The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation by the Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office. ...read more read less
