Hawaii Sports Media Legend Cindy Luis, passes away at 70

Longtime Hawaii Sports Writer Cindy Luis passed away on Sunday, her son Tiff Wells telling KHON2 Sports.
Luis was a trailblazer for women in media here in Hawaii throughout her career. As she became the first woman sports editor of a daily newspaper in Hawaii.
The legendary sports writer start
ed covering Hawaii Athletics back in 1981 and continued to cover Men's Volleyball as well as many other sports at the University for more than 4 decades before retiring in 2023.

Luis was an Award-Winning Journalist throughout her career, which included Luis being inducted into the University of Hawaii Sports Circle of Honor in 2024.
