Filer's Powersports broken into second time in 2 years
Mar 16, 2025
MACEDON, N.Y. (WROC) - The owner of Filer's Powersports in Macedon announced the store was broken into overnight Thursday. This is the second time this has happened since 2023. This time, nothing was stolen.
Although the store already enhanced security measures following the first break-in, Assis
tant Sales Manager Rebekah told News 8 that the fact this happened again is frustrating in itself.
"It's hurtful," Rebekah said. "It's like someone broke into your house."
This break-in happened almost two years after the smash and grab at Filer's, which resulted in around $67,000 worth of dirt bikes being stolen.
On Wednesday, Macedon Police announced the arrest of a suspect, 23-year-old Dimetris Burgos, in connection to the first incident. He was charged with grand larceny, criminal mischief, burglary and conspiracy, and was taken to the Wayne County Jail. According to Wayne County Sheriff's Office records, he is currently out of their custody,
After the latest incident, which officials said happened sometime Thursday night into Friday morning, Rebekah said she and her colleagues are infuriated.
"A lot of us have worked here for more than five years," Rebekah said. "My husband has worked here for 12 years, our sales manager Shaun has been here more than five years, and we overall have a really good team. We're all very close and it's violating to have someone come into what you consider your home and take your things."
As heartbreaking as this second break-in is for the Filer's team, they're choosing to remain resilient.
"We're going to keep doing what we're doing, we're going to keep setting alarms, locking everything up and hopefully they don't come back," Rebekah said. "Now they know the police respond in minutes, and they don't have time to get anything into the back of a truck or off the property without getting caught."
News 8 reached out to the Macedon Police Department, which investigated the first break-in, to confirm whether they were handling the latest crime, but News 8 has yet to hear back. ...read more read less
