WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - A child is dead after being shot in south Wichita.
According to the Wichita Police Department, just before 12:30 a.m., officers responded to the report of a shooting at an apartment complex in the 3700 block of E. Ross Pkwy.
When police arrived, they found a 7-year-o
ld Davion Gunter with a gunshot wound to his torso. He was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.
Also at the scene were seven other children and multiple adults.
Police said that a 25-year-old Wichita woman has been arrested in connection to Gunter's death. She has been booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of aggravated child endangerment and felony murder.
The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for formal chargingconsideration.
