Fresno, CALIF. (KSEE/KGPE) - A woman is dead after getting struck by a car in Fresno on Saturday morning, California Highway Patrol says.
According to CHP, on Saturday at approximately 5:30 a.m. units responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian collision on Clinton Avenue, east of Bond Street in Fr
esno.
CHP says a Toyota Avalon was driving westbound on Clinton Avenue when the pedestrian, an adult female, was walking in the westbound lanes on her walker, and was struck by the vehicle. The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and died.
Officials say the driver immediately stopped at the scene, called 911, and cooperated with authorities during the investigation.
CHP says they don't believe alcohol or drugs are suspected to be factors in the collision, but noted the area where the crash occurred is "extremely dark due to a lack of streetlights, as it is in a county pocket."
"Safety starts with awareness, both on foot and behind the wheel," says Captain Ian Holguin, Commander of the Fresno CHP Office. "Stay safe and alert." ...read more read less
