Over 5K SDGE customers left without power across San Diego County

CARLSBAD, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Over 5,000 San Diego Gas & Electric customers were reported to be without power across San Diego County on Sunday morning due to outages.
The earliest outage was reported at 3:40 a.m. in Carlsbad and La Costa, according to SDG&E’s outage map. Then, after
10 a.m. there were additional outages reported in National City. As of 11:20 a.m., 1,024 customers remained with out lights in Carlsbad and La Costa, while a total of 4,433 customers had no power in National City
The estimated restoration time for the North County areas is slated for 3 p.m. on Sunday, according to the utility company. In the South Bay, power is expected to be restored by 4:30 p.m.

The cause for the outages in Carlsbad and La Costa is due to a vehicle accident, SDG&E noted online. Meanwhile, the reason for the National City outages has yet to be announced. SDG&E said crews are assessing the issue. ...read more read less
