I’ve been skiing Deer Valley for more than 40 consecutive years and a long-time season ticket holder. Unfortunately, this tradition might come to an end. Finding pet-friendly rental property in Park City is nearly impossible. For example, On March 3, I used the VRBO website to search for a tw
o-bedroom or larger property for the week of Feb. 7-14, 2026. Hundreds of properties were displayed, but only 11 permitted pets. Of these 11, some prohibited pets during the winter season or weighing more than 30 pounds. Home Owner Associations have essentially banned visitors with pets. Young adults and unsupervised young children likely cause more property damage and disturbances than pets with responsible owners. Personally, I would accept a larger damage security deposit and pay a higher cleaning fee for my pet.Dog-friendly rental properties are a valuable asset for ski locations, as they cater to a growing demographic of pet owners who consider their dogs as part of the family. By offering accommodations that welcome pets, ski resorts can attract a broader range of visitors, including those who might otherwise be deterred by the need to leave their pets behind. This inclusivity not only enhances the overall guest experience, but pet owners are more likely to return to a destination that accommodates their entire family, including their furry friends. Additionally, dog-friendly properties can differentiate themselves from competitors, providing a unique selling point that appeals to a niche market. Moreover, dog-friendly rental properties can contribute to the local economy by encouraging longer stays and increased spending. Pet owners often seek out pet-friendly amenities and services, such as dog-sitting, grooming, and pet supplies, which can create additional revenue streams for local businesses. Furthermore, the presence of dogs can enhance the social atmosphere of a ski location, as pet owners often engage in conversations and activities centered around their pets, fostering a sense of community among visitors. By recognizing the value of dog-friendly accommodations, ski locations can tap into a lucrative market segment and create a more inclusive and vibrant environment for all guests.Roy McKayCold Spring, KenuckyThe post Guests with pets appeared first on Park Record. ...read more read less
