VCU survives and advances to A10 Tournament Championship

Washington, D.C. (WRIC) -- VCU secured a 62-55 win over Loyola Chicago in the Atlantic 10 semifinals on Saturday, March 15 at Capital One Arena, sending the Rams to their third straight A-10 title game.
Max Shulga led VCU with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Phillip Russell added 10 points, while Jack C
lark had seven points and eight rebounds. Luke Bamgboye contributed six points and four blocks. Loyola's Miles Rubin led his team with 12 points and eight rebounds.
VCU shot 43.1% from the field, while Loyola struggled at 29.4%. Loyola grabbed more offensive rebounds (22-9) and outscored VCU 17-4 in second-chance points.
Loyola fought back in the second half, taking a 51-50 lead with 5:10 left. But VCU closed the game with an 11-4 run to win.
This win sends VCU to its ninth A-10 Championship game since joining the conference in 2012.
