ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) - A man driving drunk in Rochester Saturday night nearly struck officers in the parking lot of an RPD station after a woman asking officers for help there accused him of harassing her, according to police. He was arrested after reportedly leading officers on a brief chase.
The woman walked up to RPD’s Lake Section Office on Jay Street just before 9 p.m. where officers said she claimed she was being followed by someone.
According to police, as she was speaking with officers in the parking lot, the suspect “recklessly drove through the station parking lot,” hitting two parked patrol cars, and nearly striking several officers.
The suspect then took off and a chase ensued, police said. The car being driven was partially disabled after police utilized spike strips on Pool Street. The suspect, identified by officers as a 31-year-old man from Rochester, was later arrested after allegedly making a failed attempt to drive through a wooded area at the dead end of Geddes Street.
