Sacred Heart wins fifth State Championship in a row; defeating GRC 6560

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – George Rogers Clark fell to Sacred Heart 65-60 in the finals of the KHSAA Girls Sweet 16 on Sunday night.
The lady cardinals led at the half 31-27, but turnovers and fouls would cost them the game late in the second half.
Jailenn Green and Kennedy Stamper both f
inished in double figures for GRC; scoring 19 and 13 points respectively.
For the valkyries, LSU commit Zakiyah Johnson put up 21 points and led Sacred Heart to their fifth straight state title. Sacred heart has defeated GRC in the Sweet 16 the last four years. However, this was the first time they have ever been on opposite sides of the bracket.
GRC finishes with a 27-7 overall record.
