1 arrest, 10 citations in Rohnert Park DUI checkpoint

(KRON) – A DUI checkpoint led to one arrest and multiple citations in Rohnert Park, according to the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety.
The checkpoint occurred Friday. Authorities said 1034 vehicles entered the checkpoint and 967 cars were screened.
One driver was arrested for driving
on a suspended license due to a prior DUI, according to officials. Ten drivers were cited for driving while unlicensed. All the vehicles were released to licensed drivers, per authorities.

The department said the purpose of checkpoints is “to promote public safety by educating the community on the dangers of impaired driving as well as taking suspected impaired drivers off the roads.”
Deputy Chief Aaron Johnson said there are precautions non-sober people can take while out. "With the availability of rideshare, it is unacceptable to drive intoxicated,” said Johnson. ...read more read less
