AUSTIN (KXAN) — Thirty-two people were displaced after a fire on Saturday spread to three buildings in east Austin. According to the Austin Fire Department, the fire happened around 3 p.m. in the 6800 block of Wentworth Drive. That's off Loyola Lane. AFD said a large, two-story duplex caugh t fire, and due to windy conditions, the flames spread to another duplex next door and a house behind it. The fire was accidental, AFD said, related to a BBQ pit. AFD also reported three dogs and a cat died in the fire. Thirty-two people have been displaced, and now the Red Cross is helping them, AFD said.
