SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A man who sustained a gunshot wound on Orange Street Friday night in Springfield has died as a result of his injuries.

Springfield Police Department Spokesperson Ryan Walsh said that at approx
imately 10:50 p.m. on Friday, officers received a ShotSpotter activation on the 100 block of Orange Street. When police arrived at the location, a man was found inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound.
The victim was brought to Baystate Medical Center and he passed away at the hospital.
The Springfield Police Department Homicide Unit under the direction of Captain Trent Duda and the Hampden District Attorney's Office Murder Unit are investigating the incident.
