DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) -- The Auburn-Garrett Drive-In screen has officially been restored years after a storm destroyed the drive-in's original screen.
In 2022, the original screen had to be torn down after a storm rippe
d through the area, tearing down a portion of the main screen and the base comprised of metal fencing just below the screen, suffering heavy damage as well.
Originally the screen was set to be raised up kicking off the 2024 drive-in season on Memorial Day last year. The screen was never fully complete, so it's unclear if the season ever happened.
Now, nearly two and a half years later, the new screen has finally been finished.
As of Saturday, the GoFundMe page sat at $24,275 out of the $125,000 goal. The latest update on the page was December 4, still asking for help in reaching the goal, as according to Julie Yarde, Owner of the Auburn Garrett Drive-In, she planned to take out a loan to cover the costs.
