CHICAGO (WGN) — All six Bulls championship banners have been removed from the United Center for the rest of the season after sustaining damage during a concert.
The Chicago Tribune reports that it happened during Saturday's Disturbed concert. The heavy metal band was formed in Chicago in 1994.
According to The Tribune, after the show was over, it was discovered that the fabric showed heat damage that warped the bottom halves.
The United Center said the banners sustained minor damage in the following statement:
“Following Saturday night’s concert, United Center staff discovered minor damage to the Bulls championship banners that hang in the rafters. United Center is currently working with the Bulls to explore options to repair these banners, however, we don’t anticipate them being back in place for the remainder of this season. We anticipate them being back in place next season.”
Other banners nearby, which showcase division and conference championships, were not damaged and remain up in the rafters. Banners for the Blackhawks were also not affected.
The Bulls head out on a road trip and return back to the UC on March 27 against the Lakers. ...read more read less
