I wanted to write to warn readers of a recent problem with an Epic Pass in my family. My wife, two kids, and I have been season pass holders at Park City Mountain for many years without issue. Last week we had a nightmare situation that resulted in additional ticket costs and huge amounts of time i
nvested in attempting to find a resolution to no avail. Here’s what happened:We had three other couples in town staying with us to ski for the week. On the third day, while my wife was on the mountain, she received an email that told her someone had used or attempted to use her pass to access the mountain. The attempt was made on the Canyons side, where she had not skied all season. The email went on to say that her pass had been deactivated, and her only option was to buy day passes for the rest of the season.Knowing that her pass had never left her possession, we knew that this must be a mix up, and that we could likely resolve it at a ticket window at the base area. Boy, were we wrong! Each morning over the next three days, we spent hours at the town lift ticket window and the base area ticket window only to be told there was no one there who could help us resolve the issue. We called every number on Vail and Park City’s websites, spent hours on hold and speaking with operators, and again no one was able to find a solution. We were told both by phone operators and ticket window personnel that the only way to resolve this problem was by communicating via email with ParkCityResortAccess@vailresorts.com.At this point, we have sent seven separate emails to this address beginning Feb. 23, and as of March 4, when I”m writing, have received no response from anyone. Meanwhile, we’re paying over $200 each time my wife wants to ski Park City Mountain.I don’t intend to speculate on the frequency or how this type of situation might happen, but it certainly has us evaluating all of our options for skiing in future seasons. My hope is that readers can use this story to make more informed decisions about where to ski. I won’t likely spend my money at places where there are no upper level managers or decision makers that can help resolve ticketing mix-ups.Allen WatsonKamasThe post Epic nightmare appeared first on Park Record. ...read more read less
