All across the country, Republican members of Congress are getting an angry earful from constituents who have been harmed by the widespread firings and spending cuts orchestrated by Elon Musk as he swings a chainsaw in the name of efficiency. My wife and I called into U.S. Rep. Blake Moore’s tel
e-town hall on Feb. 25. Constituents told Moore how they had been impacted. There wasn’t enough time for everyone to ask their questions during the one-hour call. Not a single caller supported President Trump and Elon Musk on the firings and spending cuts.Moore has touted his selection as a co-chair of the Congressional DOGE Caucus. During the call, he said that he was “frustrated” about the lack of communication from DOGE. I’m sorry, but simply listening and expressing “frustration” is not enough from our elected representative. Moore said in his Feb. 28 newsletter that he “loves” answering questions from constituents, but he is dodging the critical question — what is he going to actually do about the havoc wreaked by DOGE? How is he going to move beyond “frustration” to taking action on DOGE that will have a meaningful impact to defend his constituents? How is he going to effectively represent his constituents where it counts in our daily lives? To his credit, Rep. Moore stood for the truth on Ukraine during the call rather than following President Trump’s falsehood. Rep. Moore said that Russia was the aggressor. He also said that the United States should have abstained rather than following Russia’s position against the United Nations resolution condemning Russia for invading Ukraine.I urge readers to contact Rep. Moore and tell him that if he is going to serve as our elected representative, it’s not enough to just listen. He needs to stand up and take action that will have a real impact in restoring responsibility to DOGE.Ed RutanPinebrookThe post Dodging DOGE? appeared first on Park Record. ...read more read less
