CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Bear Creek Lake State Park will receive the 2025 Virginia Green Travel Award this year to honor its sustainability-based operations. Virginia State Parks made the announcement recently, stating that the Virginia Green Travel Alliance selected Bear Creek Lake State P ark due to its "efforts to recycle and operate sustainably." As a part of these efforts, the park partnered with Friends of Bear Creek Lake State Park to make a campaign centered around collecting plastic bags, which were then recycled and used to make a bench at the park.
