FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) -- The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) responded to calls of a domestic disturbance early Saturday morning.
According to a press release from FWPD, officers responded to the 4400 block of South Colonial Avenue just after midnight Saturday morning, on reports of a dom
estic disturbance. In the initial call officers also received reports that a knife or other sharp object had possibly injured someone.
When officers arrived, they found one person with a head injury. That person was taken to the hospital in non-life threatening condition.
According to the press release, the alleged suspect, who caused the injury, fled into a garage and barricaded himself. Officers made multiple attempts to get the suspect to come out, all were unsuccessful.
Officers then called in backup of the Department's Emergency Services Team, Crisis Response Team and Air Support, in further attempt to get the man to exit peacefully. After several attempts, officers with the Emergency Services Team entered the home. The suspect attempted to flee again, but was taken into custody just before 4:20 a.m.
At the scene WANE 15 crew saw drones were deployed. Emergency Services Team and the Crisis Response Team stationed in the Family Dollar parking lot, located on S Anthony Blvd.
